Research into typical synopsis

Research into typical synopsis

Synopsis" is a term used in the entertainment industry to indicate a matter-of-fact summation of a story's plotline, a shorter version of the longer work (whether that work is a novel, a nonfiction book, a screenplay, or even a treatment). Think of the synopsis as a more or less complete and detailed recitation of all the scenes and events in a story, a condensed version of the plot. The synopsis' purpose is to describe, not to sell. The treatment's purpose is to sell, and that's why it's written with an intensity and urgency the synopsis characteristically lacks.

Iconography Associated with the sports Genre

Still Frame Analysis

Rocky 6 Still frame analysis
Rocky being very similar genre to our own film I have decided to do a bit of research and do a still frame analysis of the image above.

Mise en scene:
In this scene it shows rocky boxing with his opponent in the ring. The background of this scene shows the ref inspecting the fight and also the crowd watching the fight.
The boxing shows rocky punching his opponent with some power as the expression on his face indicts this.

The color of the scene is very serious colors that consist of blacks, yellow, white and blue. These are the main colors that can be seen straight away that give a
serious mood to the fight.

The costumes that the fighters are wearing are appropriate as they are wearing boxing attire such as shorts and gloves. This gives the scene more realism into how it is a professional fight with the attire being very professional.

The props of the scene are the ring and the boxing gloves. Without these props it would not be a boxing scene.

The lighting of the scene is a very dark around the ring but as to inside the ring and where the fighters are has a hard light upon them from showing the importance of them and them being in the spot light.

This scene is a 2 person shot or a mid-long shot. This is because the scene shows from the knee to the head. This scene shows a lot of action so it is the right camera angle to get the most important actions in the scene.

The organization of the scene shows at the rope viewing the fighters fighting followed by the referee behind inspecting the fight. They’re after shows the fans outside the ring followed by sponsorships above the ring. This gives a professional touch to the scene as we feel like we are at a real boxing match rather then at a film.

Sponsership

Sponsorship for gloves up
This sponsorship bored was made in Photoshop, i made this out of series of images and added the font and tried to give it a professional look as possible. We are then going to use this on a projector behind us so it looks again professional how we would find it in a sports interview or press conference layout.

opening scene for gloves up

Scene fades in with Zee Played by Junuz jogging up the street, the scene is slowed down with music playing in the background "Eminem lose yourself" Title's run across the bottom. The next scene is Chris played by "Luke" lifting weights. The scenes keep switching from Junuz training, back to Luke training and this is a repeated pattern.  For 1 minute and 20 seconds. The Next scene will be at the actual gym, the camera focuses on the ring. The 2 fighters both step in, referee played by Titas, will introduce the fighters. The same music will play throughout, while any speech is muted. Towards the end, the referee raises his hand and starts the fade, while the scene fades out into a black Title clip, gloves Up!

Analysis :
A very good short clip with a good narrative. A lot of enigma in the first opening minute but all is reveled at the end of the clip.
The story starts off with a man in a suite walking down a alleyway. Gloomy colors in the scene allot of brown shades which match the characters suit.

The story then continues into a dark room with alot of black in the scene. The character's in the room are also wearing  mostly black, which sets the scene of a dark mood. The narrative so far looks like a man trying to join a mafia or some bad organization.  It then goes on where the scene changes into all bright colors in a garden with a lot of flowers. This then leaves us curious as to whats happening.
as the scene goes on it shows a kind of horror scene where it mostly red as a sign of blood or killing happening but we are not sure as the camera will not allow us to see. The scene then goes onto a lot of talking into what has just happened.  The quote that makes us certain a killing has happened is  ' she almost looks alive '.
This however isn't the case as a the camera shows a book on the floor with a flower print.
A lot of bright colors are in the scene and a catchy theme song plays.

This is a well thought narrative all in side the 2 mins.

Conventions of sport genre

Cam angles used :
Low angles , mid shots , long shots , close up , mid close ups , panning , p.o.v

Colours used : In a boxing film , the often colours used are normally from light to dark. so if it was outside it will be lots of light colours , but inside in the ring the colours will be mostly dark and only a bit of colour from what they maybe wearing. alternatives have been used as they switch to black and white for a knock out.

Props :
A lot of props will be used to make the film more realistic. some of the props that are used i fighting sports films are ; boxing rings or arena , crowds , ref , boxing gloves and rest of the outfit . to make the film more realistic the film would have sponsorships as they do in real life to give that sense of authenticity.

Edits :
Lots of fast cut edits , slow motion to show a knock out also from different angles as a continued shot and edits when a fight was to make a entrance.

Dress Codes : The dress code through the film will go from sport to maybe to casual to sport to a business attire depending on the narrative of the story line. some examples could be :
Fight scene entrance : robe on , shorts , gloves , shoes , title belt and head guard if needed.

Press interview : Casual attire or smart , shirt and tie or shirt and jeans looking formal to speak to the media.

opening sequences

Opening sequences!

Fight Club

The film fight club was made in the year 1999. An insane ticking time bomb insomniac and a office worker create a new organization to release some of there primal aggression, Fight Club.

Underground Fight Club's start appearing in every city across America

The opening sequence to the Fight Club shows a fly through of the inside of Edward Norton's head, an un-named protagonist, the main actor in Fight Club. It then comes out his head not being able to see who the person is and flies down the side of a gun only being focused on the gun and then all of a sudden focuses. You can then see Edward Norton's face with a gun in his mouth being threatened to be killed, if he doesn't tell the where about of a certain 'Tyler Durden' Played by 'Brad Pit'.

Not giving up his where about we want to watch the rest of the film from start to finish.

Very good film with a good story line!

My rating

4* out of 5*

intial idea

Gloves up!!

Starting with a black background and queuing the music to create affect also queuing the titles to create the tense/dramatic opening scene.

Based in the modern day of 2011 two young contenders go head to head in a title match. A UFC match with for the title... who will win? Will it be points or a knockout? All will be found out!!

Zee ' The Madman' Machete - The Heavyweight champion of the world holding the title for a total of 6 years has been challenged for his record by Chris 'Ground & Pound' Taylor! Zee being 30 years of age accepted the challenging and has currently gone into a months of hardcore UFC training! He plans to win the fight and keep his title for the remaining of his career.

Chris 'Ground & Pound' Taylor - The new man on the scene not loosing a fight yet has been training hard for the last 2 years preparing for an opportunity like this. Known for his dirty fighting Zee 'The Madman' Machete will be teaching him some lessons of UFC cage fighting

Seeing the two men in training tells me that this is gonna be a clash of the titan fight. One man Chris Taylor in 'Lions Gym' Hillfields home to the world champion kick boxer Sunny 'Hitman' Hira has had a rough upbringing but has a strong world class team to back him up and i am sure his belt will be placed on the wall in the gym for every body to see it when he wins.

The Gracie Barra UFC cage fighting academy based in London makes this an all British world class fight possibly drawing thousands/millions of viewers. With Zee being born in the area and watching the academy grow stronger and stronger he became a member at the gym at the age of just 16 and has been since in training and paid off as he hold the title for 6 years. With him having Gracie Barra himself pass down every little bit of skill he knows to Zee he will be using all he can against the young Chris Taylor.

The big day set to be on the 11th November will be an eye raising event, bringing a lot of money and fame to the team that wins. This will improve the clubs appearance.

The moral of the story is Zee wins the fight first time around and keeps his title and then Chris Taylor ends up in intensive care for the better half of a year with knee problems but after surgery and a reconstructed knee he comes out recovers and takes back where he left off. with him being knocked of his feet for nearly 8 months he has to start his career again with fighters he knows he can beat and getting his confidence back.

Thinking he is ready he challenges Zee to another fight a year later without his managers say so! Could this be consequential??

Intial Treatment

9 o Clock Killer
The opening sequences :

The story's stars off in a gloomy town where everything is not what it seems. A small house out of the town is home to a monstrous creature of the night. Every night when the clock strikes 9, the monster awakes to find his victims.
Victims after victims this foul creature has been through leaving no trails , no clues and no witness. Some say its not human. Police have been trailing this creature for months left with no strong evidence in to what or who the creature is.
Throughout the story, killing after killing it becomes more enigma in to how or why the reasons these killings are occurring.
